I spent the whole morning sewing the quilt top together! After trimming off the edges, the final measurement is 85.5 in. I couldnt decide on the border fabric so I thought I'll leave it for a while. Might have to shop around for the border fabric because the fabric I had in mind just doesnt compliment the quilt. I need to add a frame probably about 2.5 in and then a 6.5 in border. I like the border that size because it is nice to quilt a pattern around it.

Hot N Spicy quilt!

LOL! Yes, this is another one of my many UFOs. I made this for my best friend, Lyn, for her 10th wedding anniversary which by the way came and went!! If I can finish it this year and give it to her, technically it's still within the 10th anniversary time period!! LOL
I love yellow and orange! I added red in to make it stand out. This pattern is called moving stars. I have completed one in blue and white. It is an easy block to piece. The hard part is the quilting bit!!! LOL If only we all have extra pair of hands!!

This quilt belongs to my sister, Adeline. She is the one who helped me organise the 'stuff' in my sewing room. I took it from her last year to help her with the quilting bit. I almost finish quilting it but I guess I must have stop at the last 3 blocks!! I intended to go back to it but then some other projects must have taken up my attention!! :-) So when she was going through my 'stuff', she found her quilt!! LOL I told her I'll get it done and give it to her next week!!! ;-+

I sewed part of the quilt top. I like the color of the sides. It gives a contrast to the cross country blocks. For the frame, I think I will use a dark brown then maybe another light color. Got one or two fabrics in mind. This quilt top is made up of 7 cross country blocks across and 7 cross country blocks down. It is laid out diagonally.

I was busy over the weekend. My sister came and helped me sort out my sewing room. I was dreading doing it myself because I am not a good organiser!! I've got fabrics stashed all over the place!! Now they are all sorted according to their color tones!!!

Today I thought I'll continue with the ohio star and cross country quilt. I laid them on the floor to see the color. Decided to use the fabric from the ohio star for the corners and sides.

Tulips N Anemones

This is another of my on-going project. I am sure we all have a 'while waiting' project like this that we carry around. You know, the 'while I was waiting for you', I managed to do a bit of applique!! LOL This project consist of 10 side blocks like this, 4 corner blocks and a big centre piece.
I ironed on the dark green bias then appliqued them to keep them permanently on! Because they are quite tiny, it is better to be safe than sorry in the long run.

I want to share this wonderful gadget with those of you who find it hard to make a bias for a 5mm or 6mm width. This bias maker is slightly different from the normal one. On the top, you can insert the bias tape which is actually a double sided fusible web. You put the fabric through the bottom like how you would do with the ordinary bias maker. This time iron both the fabric and the tape together. Notice the bias that I have made. It is so fast and easy to make. AND you dont get frustrated after making a bias this size to find it the next day 'all opened up'. LOL

I am sure a lot of us have at least of these bias maker at home. It is a very useful tool especially if you intend to make vines and stems on an applique.

The cross country blocks are done!! I have always wanted to make a quilt in this colors. LOL!!

I was busy the last few days so didnt have time to update my blog.
These are the colors for my cross country blocks.
The middle square is the same fabric as the ohio star.

Country chooks valance

My friend, Haminah, was here cutting and sewing her cross country blocks. (Notice the fabrics hanging at the back of the chair behind the quilting frame!)
While she was doing that, I decided to continue quilting. This is the second valance for my kitchen window. I have finished quilting the longer one which is for a four-panel window. This one is for a two-panel window. Maybe I should concentrate on quilting this first!!! It took me about 3 hrs to quilt the lines. If I can spare another 3 hrs, I might be able to complete it!!! LOL

144 squares!! All ironed and trimmed! After making the squares the rest is easy!! Actually I should use the easy triangle method! It would have been faster!! Nvm!

Got up early today so decided to start on my quilt. Wont have time to sew in the afternoon because today is Feast of our Lady....Assumption and mass is at 12pm. Also I made appointment for facial at 1.15pm!! LOL
It's interesting for me to do this project in pastel and earthy colors!! I cannot wait to see the finished tops!!

I started sewing all the strips together this afternoon. Took me at least 2 hrs to complete all 36 blocks!
Did not have time to iron them. Will do that tomorrow after I iron all the clothes. House chores come first!!! LOL

The colors really look nice. So soft. Will get Haminah to sort out the colors for the next combination...cross country block..

I did not have time to update my blog yesterday. Night out with some friends.

This blog is not meant for teaching. If you are looking for some guidance, I suggest you look for websites that specializes in that. I just want to keep you in touch with what I am doing!

I have joined all the squares into rows. Ironed them too!

The next thing to do is to sew them into 36 blocks!!

Had to do three loads of laundry before I could sit down and trim 144 of these blocks.

I was in Perth the last few days and managed to buy all these fabrics. When I went to Spotlight on Friday, they were going for $2.40 per metre. I bought like 3 m each fabric!!The next day, they were going for $2 per metre!!! So I bought some more!! It's good to have a good stash!!!

All the triangles have to be ironed. Tomorrow I will sew them into squares!! The colors are lovely!

I started sewing all the triangles together. Notice the 1/4 inch seam foot. It has an edge. Not many sewing machine has that kind of foot.

Haminah has chosen these colors for her quilt. The fabrics are 100 percent cottton made in Japan.

These are the earthy colors for my project. I have already cut up all the material and they are ready for stitching. I have to put my project on hold because I am helping my friend, Haminah, make her quilt first. I think I will make the Ohio star blocks first. Complete hers then start on mine. We'll see how it goes!

Ohio star and Cross country quilt

This is the king size Ohio star and Cross country quilt. I made this because I had just bought new sewing machine and was just testing it out! It's a 6260 QC Janome sewing machine. The machine is smooth and not as noisy as my old trusty Singer machine! It's time to move on!! LOL
I will be making the new quilt in earthy colors. I cant wait to see the finished project..

Patchwork N Quilting

I don't know if anyone is interested in my blog.. It's just going to be mostly on patchwork and quilting. I have started on a king size one. I am using two patterns. I will combine Ohio star and Cross country blocks. All the blocks are 9". At the moment I do not have any pictures on the project but I will try to take some tomorrow. Just for info, this will be my third project using the same pattern. The first is a single and the second is a king . I thought it might be fun to have a blog. Like a diary!!
If you are quilter, you will know that this is not my only on-going project!!! Yep I do have one on my quilting frame. Another applique project sitting in a basket. A stack N whack kaleidoscope (king size... mind you!) already patched but pending because I cannot find the right colors for the finishing! Two dormouse (door stoppers) waiting for me to make dresses for them! Oh Oh the UFOs in the closet!!!! All basted and waiting to be quilted!!!
So if you would like to journey with me...hopefully one day...you may see at least a few of my finished projects!! LOL
