Made another one!!! LOL

Saturday, January 17, 2009

All done!! I really enjoyed making this bag. The instructions are very easy to understand. I will be making more of these so once completed, I will post them in the blog! LOL

Putting all the parts in place before the final sewing! Notice the sleeves and the skirt. The skirt has to be tucked in properly so that we don't accidentally sew on it later.

This is the skirt part.

Cutting out the pattern.

I am using these two fabrics for the clothespin bag.

Clothespin Bag

I ordered this pattern in October. I was hoping to make them as Christmas gifts but unfortunately the pattern didnt arrived until 3 days ago!!! The first pattern must have gotten lost in the mail! Darlene was kind enough to send another one to me. Thanks!!
Anyways, I'll start making them for this Christmas!! For those of you who are interested in this pattern, you can buy it from www.feedsacklady.com

Machine quilting is really fast! Normally it will take me a few days to finish quilting a quilt this size but this time it took me just a few hours! I am still not sure if I should adjust the setting for the stitches. The preset stitches are quite small. Nevermind I'll try out with my next baby quilt!! Got to make two more. LOL

It's almost done! Now I'm sewing the binding. I will have to hand stitch that. I dont know how to machine quilt any designs on the alternate block so I'm leaving it as it is! I used the preset setting for the stitches but I think I should have adjusted it maybe make the stitches bigger. Any suggestions??

As I am in a hurry to complete this baby quilt, I decided to try and machine quilt it! I have never done machine quilting before so I thought I'll just start with quilting straight lines!! This is the first time I am using this attachment on my Janome!! I hope I am doing it right!!

I've pieced all the blocks together and also added the borders. As you can see the left and right borders are smaller. I didnt want the quilt to be too big. It is afterall, a baby quilt!! LOL

This is the alternate block. I am using this print so that the quilt wont look too plain!! LOL

Sewed the strips together and made this block. As for the alternate block, I will be using fabric with some prints instead of a plain one.

I have decided on making a double irish chain quilt. I've cut the fabrics into 2 inches strips. This is a simple and easy pattern for anyone who wants to make a quilt fast!!! LOL

First project for 2009!

The first project for the year would be a baby quilt. This is for my friend's first grandchild!! She told me about it last year! Thought I had plenty of time to make it! I think the baby is due this month!! Time just flew by and well, Happy 2009!!!! LOL
