Added a green border to the quilt.  After that, it's time for  basting!!  I don't baste my quilt on the floor anymore!!  I lay all my quilts on the table top for basting.  No more backaches!!!

Sewed all the blocks together....but I think many of the blocks were 'creatively' pieced together :-)

I added a purple sashing.  Trying to bring out more of the purple color.

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Alternate the blocks and this is the layout.  It's not too bad the color theme... Purple and green are really not my cup of tea!!  But then to some it's .......!  Lol  Anyway, it's really nice to be able to make a quilt in any color combination!!!

Completed all the blocks.  Now trying to lay them out n piece them together.

All these quilts are made from the same pattern but with different color theme.

This is the quilted top.. All there is left to do, is the binding which I am not doing as I don't have the matching fabric for it.   So happy that it's all quilted!!

This is a quilt I helped my friend, Haminah, make quite a few years ago.  I have already completed mine and made the same quilt pattern for my sister.  She hand quilted just a bit of the border by hand and left it aside as a UFO in the cupboard.

Decided to help her finish it so am quilting it for her by machine.  I have already decided that hand quilting take too much time!!!  Doing simple ditch quilting and border for her so that she can use her quilt!!!

He chose this..and I added a black sashing and a printed black and white border.

I don't know when I will be able to quilt it.  Still in progress...Aaron's quilt...

Layout No 2....  I let Greg make the final decision...

Playing around with the layout... No 1

Friday, September 2, 2016

The fun start here...... turn each of the cut block around to form this pattern....just so I don't get confused with the piecing, I just sew each of the big block after cutting.

Monday, August 8, 2016

Once the block becomes an hour glass, the fun part begins!  From the middle of the block, measure a 21/8" portion and cut.  Keep turning the block and cut all four sides..  like so....

Friday, August 5, 2016

After sewing all the sides, cut diagonally.  Iron the fabric towards the dark print.  Then sew all the squares together.  Lastly, before the final cut sew them into hour glass.

Monday, August 1, 2016

The first step is to cut out 10" X 10 " square blocks.  30 squares of the red, purple and black fabric and 30 squares of  plain white fabric.

The second step is to put both the plain and coloured squares...right sides together...then sew all the four sides together.

Disappearing Hour Glass (Greg's Quilt)

My Aunty Agnes, told me she made a very easy quilt using the Disappearing Hour Glass pattern. So I had a look into youtube.  I thought it was very interesting so I decided to try and make a quilt.  I what'sapp my nephew, Greg, to see if he wants a quilt.  He said....YES..  I then had to ask him his favourite colors and he came up with this combination!!!.. Red, Purple and Black...

All done!!  Did the same quilting as the other quilt.  Simple ditch and line quilting.

Friday, July 22, 2016

I used the same fabric for the squares and border.  This will make the solid colors pop out!!  Since this is a crib size quilt, I only need to use half of the table top to baste.  However, I used quite a lot of safety pins to pin the layers together.

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Added a pink sashing and used the same square block print for the border.

I like how the colourful blocks became the centre of attraction rather than the middle square blocks.

Monday, July 18, 2016

Played around with the blocks and came up with this combination.

Sewing all the triangles together.

King Crown's 2

A request from my sister to make a quilt for a baby girl.  I thought I just use the same pattern as the one I just made for the baby boy.

I rummaged through the fat quarters bin and pick out these colors.  It's going to be another colorful quilt!!!

The finished quilt...

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

I am just going to quilt along the ditch lines.  Not too much quilting.  Just some simple clean quilt lines on the border as well.

Basting the quilt with plenty of safety pins!  I used a fibre and cotton mix batting for this quilt.

Monday, May 23, 2016

I added a border with the same printed fabric as the heart of the block.

Added a blue fabric for the frame.  I used the same blue fabric as the middle block.
The blue brings out the other colors.  Made the quilt bright and colourful!!

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

These are the finished blocks!  The colors are so vibrant!  I hope baby will like it!!

Sunday, May 15, 2016

The fun part begins!!  Try imagining the colors all come together!!!

Friday, May 13, 2016

Cutting and sorting out the fabric.  This process usually take quite some time.  I like to have all the pieces cut and ready for  piecing.  First, I have to decide the number of blocks needed.  Then the number of triangles and squares to cut.

The fun part is piecing all the fabrics together!  The vision of the 'finished' patchwork is only in the mind at this moment!!

King's Crown

I am using the pattern called King's Crown to make a baby quilt.  I think it is quite appropriate as it will be the first grandchild for both the families.  It will be a 3 X 6 blocks quilt.  I intend to make it as colourful as I can.  The main fabric will be the printed cartoon print.  The rest of the fabric will be the fat quarters that are in my stash.

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

This is the purple block.  See the middle triangles.. they have more contrast than the green blocks :-(  I am almost done with the purple blocks and I can't wait to see the two blocks side by side!!

Sunday, April 17, 2016

This is the  green block.  I am not sure if the lighter green fabric will stand out when I piece it side by side with purple print.  It might not show well at all.. :-(

Monday, April 11, 2016

I am piecing all the green blocks first.  This is half a block.  My problem is getting all the triangles to have the pointy ends!!  I don't think I am very successful in doing that!!!  It's going to be a 'creatively' pieced quilt!  :-(

Monday, March 14, 2016

A very messy tabletop!!

Sunday, March 13, 2016

The next step is cutting 4 X 2 strips and joining them to the squares.

Wednesday, March 9, 2016

To continue with Aaron's quilt, I added green flowery fabric to the dark green square and a lighter shade of pinky purple to the dark purple square.  I have to cut at least 440 triangles for both colors.  And then I'll have to start piecing them to make  4' X 4' squares.

Andy's Laptop Sleeve

When I bought this Japanese ready quilted print fabric last December in Otaru, I didnt know what I wanted to do with it.  I was playing with some ideas..maybe a handbag or a wristlet or just something to remind me of my Otaru trip!
*Sigh*..I should have bought more than two pieces!!!

Decided to use this to make a laptop sleeve for Andie because she is leaving for further studies and she just bought a new pc!  AND she needed it 'urgently'!!!  hahahaha Anyway, this ready quilted fabric is the fastest and easiest to use!  I used another quilted fabric for the inside of the laptop sleeve. Just to make sure there's enough padding to cushion the laptop. Added a leather strap.

These are the two sets of triangles I need to sew together before adding the bigger triangles to make them into squares!!! I will have to add  solid purple and green triangles to them.  I am using only one block in a side by side setting.

Friday, February 19, 2016

Continuing this patchwork after a couple of months break!!  Went on a holiday end of November.  Then back in the middle of December.  Got ready for Christmas then the New year..  After that, for Chinese New Year!!!  Now I am ready to start for this Year 2016!!!

I started sewing the triangles together  for both the green and purple blocks..  After that, the white triangles...I calculated I need 880 pieces!!!  It was tedious but I cut out all of the 880!  Now I am in the process of joining them to the green and purple pieces..
