This is it!!  The fruit of my labor!!  I had to readjust the armhole a bit cos it's about 1/2" too big!!  It's not as neat as how I would like it to be though!  The fabric is soft and tend to fray easily so I had to be more careful that I don't pull at it too much.  I still think I should have used 100% cotton fabric!!  Will this be the first and last???  hahahhahaahaaa  We'll see.....

I don't know whether this is the right way to do it.  It may not be the proper steps in dressmaking but the way I looked at it...it's turning out looking like a blouse...whether it will fit me or not is another matter!!!  LOL

A Sleeveless Blouse....

I never thought I would do this!!!  My cousin, Michelle, sent me the pattern and as I have no know how of making a blouse, I had to go through some Youtube videos for help!!    I can't help but felt that I should have used 100% cotton fabric to make this blouse.  That would have been a better choice.  This fabric is a bit hard to handle.  But I had already cut out the pattern so let's see how it goes....

The last big quilt for the year!!!  Made this quilt with my favourite colours!  I spoilt the original quilt meant for Lyn so had to replace with this one!!  I hope she likes the quilt.    Christmas is just around the corner.  A whole year has gone by so quickly!!!  Looking forward to the coming year cos I told myself I must quilt those UFOs in the cupboard!

I tried to get this done as fast as possible but it still took almost a month to quilt!!  I don't know where all the time went!!!  The quilting is done along the seams and feathers on the border.  But I have to admit I didn't spend all my time on this.. I was playing with the Brother 4500D!!!  LOL  Will do the binding later and I think this will be the last quilt for this year!!

T-shirt embroidery

Made these t-shirts for a friend's 50th birthday.   My first thought was just to make the t-shirts for the guys but I ended making for the ladies as well.  I went on the internet and bought these designs.  Although the timing says 23 mins to sew the design, I think it took more than that because the thread tend to break more than once!!!  I had to prewash all the t-shirts before sewing.  The website from which I bought the designs also give tips on how to sew embroidery on t-shirts and towels!!!  There's so much to learn!!!!

Lynda's quilt

Pin basting the next quilt for machine quilting.  I almost finish a quilt for her but if you remember a while back I had a major incident with water leaking through the ceiling.  That quilt was soaked and some of the red colour ran on the white fabric.  I couldn't possibly give her that quilt so I decided to replace it with this one!!!
It's a log cabin quilt and I made this some time back.  It was in the cupboard among all the other UFOS!!  This quilt was already basted with thread but I ripped out the thread and removed the old batting.  I replaced the batting with a thinner batting so that it will be easier for me to machine quilt.

My new baby!!!

Hahahhaha Yes!!  Got myself a new baby!!!  With a lot of thoughts... I decided to buy the Brother Innov-is 4500D!!  It's an embroidery machine as well as a sewing machine.  Actually I was playing with the idea of getting just an embroidery machine.  I had in mind the Janome Memory Craft but then I saw the Innov-is 1500D.  I was quite taken up with it and decided to place an order with Cottage Patch.  However after two weeks of comparing it with the other Brother models, I called Cottage Patch and changed my order to this!!!  What sold me was the automatic threader and the color screen!!!!  LOL  My first try out with this machine was making a label for my sister's 50th birthday quilt!!  It turned out really well and I am still in the midst of getting to 'know' my baby!!!

It's all done!!  Did the binding in the same fabric as the little squares.  If you look closer at the folded corner, I added a label with the number 50.  Will post a closer picture of it in my next blog!!  I am so happy I finished this. I want to give it to my sister before the year end or else it will be a 51st birthday present instead!!! LOL

Almost done!!!  I just need to bind it and also add a label at the back of the quilt.  There are still many uneven stitch lengths in the quilting!! LOL I know I need more practice!!!  I followed the advice of Cindy Needham... ESS!!  It was quite easy as I used an even walking foot for all the straight lines.   I didn't have enough confidence to do feathers on the border without markings!  So I decided to use a stencil and mark it first!!   I used a cream printed fabric for the backing.  I was looking for either purple or some light purplish colour but I couldn't find any!  It's just one of those things...   :-(

Pieced together the sashing and the border.  I used the same fabric print as the middle square block.  As you can see, I have already pin baste the quilt top.  This is done only after I drew all the quilting designs on it.

Ann's 50th Birthday Quilt

This quilt is in the process of being completed!  It is for my sister, Ann.   She celebrated her 50th birthday in February.  It's a belated birthday present from all of us!  This is one of her surprise presents!!  She had a surprise birthday party...shock of her life when she saw everybody waiting for her at the lift door!!  After that she was given an air ticket departing the next day to visit me in Istanbul and a big nice camera to take pictures with!!!!   I don't know how we managed to pull it off but it was the best!!!  These are her favourite colours!!  Shades of purple...This picture doesn't show the true colours!!!  So pinky!! LOL

Greg's kindle cover

I have been neglecting my blog for the last few months and is feeling very guilty for not sewing enough!!!  Two very good reasons though...one..I have been away with Luke for work posting and two..a couple of days after we returned we had our roof restructured which resulted in the whole of upstairs being renovated as well!!  Moved everything down to the ground floor but I did set up the sewing machine on the dining table just to do a little bit of sewing!  However, this kindle cover was not made at home but at my cousin's house in Miri.  I had promised Greg to make him a kindle cover but did not have the time to make one yet so I offered him mine.  He said he doesn't mind the girly cover!  As always, who can resist buying fabrics???    Found this lovely linen fabric and went to my cousin's house to make it!!  A very happy Greg at the end of the day!!!

Kindle cover

This is my kindle cover.  I made it some time last year.    It is the sleeve kind.  This is a patchwork print so it was very easy to just quilt around the little blocks.  I used a button strap to secure the kindle in the sleeve.  This is one of the best strap you can use to make sleeves for gadgets like this.  I used a quarter meter of fabric to make it.  The lining is also of the same fabric.

Christmas panel

This is one of pieces I did before Christmas!   Free motion quilting done on a Christmas panel.  I also quilted the kitchen valance which I made a few years ago.  It looked so different now.  This photo was taken on my iphone so the quality may not be good enough to have a good look at the quilting.

I took an online course on quilting and that really helped me a lot too.  Check out Craftsy.com, you may find something interesting there!!

Floral Fantasy

Wow!! I cannot believe how fast the time went by!!  When I saw the last date on the blog, I almost flip!!  WHAT!!  October???  It is not that I did not do any sewing!  In fact, I have been practising machine quilting on projects and finishing up some of the UFOs.   Will try to  post some photos later.

Hubby has been posted to Istanbul for a couple of months so here I am with my project on the go!!  Keeping my fingers 'crossed' that I can finish this before we go back!!  I started this last year and I actually thought I could finish it before the end of LAST year but....LOL
