Super Charger covers

Made these Christmas covers for the super chargers. I didn't have a lot of time so I found this simple fabric print and decided to just quilt around it.
These covers will be the last for the year! I have put away my sewing machine and turned my sewing room into another guest room!! It is actually a good thing to do that once a year! It's a wonder how much we can collect in a year!! LOL

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

I've added yellow sashing and border on the quilt. I know the yellow fabric is very striking! But I think it goes with the printed red fabric which has some yellow on it. I might have to put this quilt top on hold so that I can get some Christmas projects going!! So many things to do...soooo little time!!! LOL

Friday, November 20, 2009

Sewed this in the afternoon. I wanted to sew the sashings and border but because there was a bad thunderstorm, I decided to switch off the sewing machine and take a rest!! The weather was really horrible!! Dark skies....the wind was so strong that I could see stuff flying above the roofs...one of my potted plants fell and broke ( the pot itself is about 2 ft high)...heavy rain....Arrgghhh!

Thursday, November 19, 2009

I used the easier variation for the second block. Less sewing!! LOL I don't know but I do think it is a waste of time piecing white strips on the same white fabric.....Lazy me!!

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

I am now back to work on Andrea's quilt. Andrea is my eleven year old niece. Yesterday she sent me an sms, asking me what I was doing! I told her and this is what she typed..'Yay my blanket'!! LOL

Nataniel's Quilt

I thought I'll post this since I haven't been doing any sewing lately!! I really must start soon!! LOL
I made this some time back for a friend's baby boy. This quilt pattern is great if you have a lot of scraps lying around. There are only three different shapes to applique..the aeroplane body, wing and propeller. A very simple pattern!! But the outcome is great!!! LOL

Friendship Swap Bag

My friendship bag has arrived! Thank you, Cecelia Malhotra! She has included some fabric, a key chain and a pattern. Really appreciate it! Thanks again.
I have been absent for two weeks! Just came back from India. We had to attend two wedding functions so we took the opportunity to go sight seeing as well. Did you know that there are only 3 basilicas in the world which is build over the tomb of an apostle and one of them is in India? St Thomas Shrine! We also made a trip to Valankarni. There is a beautiful church which is dedicated to Our Mother of Good Health. Mother Mary appeared 3 times there. So it is a very special place for Catholics to visit! LOL So I am back home! Can't wait to get back to some serious 'work'!!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

I was hoping to finish sewing all the segments together but I only made 3 blocks. I went out for lunch with my sister, send the car for wash and did some shopping for the house. This kind of day always make me wish there are more than 24 hrs in a day!!! As it is, 8 hrs is reserved for beauty sleep (much needed at this age)! LOL

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Found some time to stitch all the strips together. I still need to iron and cut them into 21/2 inch segments. Lots more sewing to be done after that! I have always love this pattern! Very classic!! Simple and nice!!

Double Irish Chain

I have been so busy lately that I have not been able to do any serious sewing! So today, I thought I'd better get my act together and get started on making a quilt for somebody! I have a list of people who have asked me to make quilts for them! These are people I cannot say 'no' to! This one is for my niece, Andrea. She is looking for a puppy to adopt. So when I was in Perth, I bought these two printed fabrics with her in mind. I found the white printed fabric in PJ. Check out the prints! LOL

Back fr Perth!

Came back from Perth with all this loot!! Some of the stuff like the clown pattern, the little pots and the two reels of laces were pure find!! I bought them from second hand shops like Salvos (Salvation Army), Good Sammy (St Vincent de Paul) and Anglicare. The clown pattern is only 50 cents..all patterns intact! The purple lace..almost a full reel $1 and the black lace..full reel $2! The little craft pots..50 cents! All I could think was..'so cheap so cheap' even after conversion!! LOL

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Finished the quilt top! Added three sashings and a border. I couldn't piece some of the green squares properly!! Tried to rectify it but couldn't! That's my only regret about this quilt!! LOL

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I managed to sew all the blocks together. I really like this variation. I love how one block can make it look so complicated and nice!! I really think I should make a scrappy quilt in this pattern!! LOL

Sunday, September 27, 2009

This is a one-block quilt. There are so many variations to this. It is easy to put the blocks together because it's only one block for the whole quilt!

Friday, September 25, 2009

Putting all the small squares together. This is will make 56 blocks.

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Made all the squares! These are all trimmed down to 5'' squares. This is an easy pattern to make. Seriously thinking of making another one with scrap fabrics!

Friendship Bag Swap

Here is my Friendship bag and goodies. Had fun putting them together!! Just sent it off to my partner in the US. I hope she likes them. I put together some Japanese fabric, two packets of buttons and two hangers for minature quilts. I've also added a packet of applique needles (these are really, really needles to die for, if you are into applique... LOL) and something for Halloween.

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

These are all 3in strips. I've sewed them together with the beige strips. Then they are cut into 3in segments and joined together to form squares.

Oh for info, I've put aside my Honey Bee blocks because I'm still deciding about the plain blocks.....should I or should I not applique some flowers on the plain blocks..??? LOL

Buckeye Beauty Quilt

I saw this quilt pattern in a shop. The quilt was made up of scraps but controlled in a sense that one fabric is holding all the scraps together! As I am pressed for time, I decided not to use scraps but these fabrics instead. The beige will be the control fabric. I did not know the name of the pattern so I went through the internet to search for it. I found it in Quilt Blocks Galore. The wonders of the internet world!!! LOL

Clothespin bags!!

Made some more of these as gifts.....Christmas is around the corner!! LOL

Saturday, September 19, 2009

I have been busy the last few days making this bag which I've just completed and also made five more clothespin bags ( Will post the pictures later)!!
I made this bag with the remainder fabric. I still have enough left to make one more!! This bag is not as big as the other one. I've done some decorative stitching around the squares and also on the handles. I think by going into craftwork, I have also got to know my sewing machine a little bit better!!! LOL

Sunday, September 13, 2009

I've done all the machine applique. Laid all the blocks on the floor to have a look! I don't know if I should applique some flowers on the plain blocks. Still thinking about it!! I was inspired by quayquilter.blogspot.com. She made a lovely honey bee quilt and I wanted one of my own too!!! LOL

Saturday, September 12, 2009

Thanks for the suggestion, Gina! I did spend some time trying out all the different stitch width and length. I found this one which I like very much! It's a 0.5 smaller stitch length. I decided not to remove the stitches that I've done on the other 5 blocks!!! Don't want to spoil the applique. From far, you can't really see the different stitch width because it's only a 0.5 difference!! LOL

Honey Bee Quilt

This project was started last October! LOL The first block was appliqued by hand. However, I decided I better try to applique by machine because of time constraint!!! (LOL it's almost a year and I haven't finish it!!) I started on the wings first. I wanted the stitches to be smaller but I can't get it to the size I want. This is the best that I can do! I am using this setting..pressure foot 2...stitch pattern 25....stitch size 1.5 Any suggestions???

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

I am so glad this is completed! It is not perfect but it will have to do!!! I've made a few mistakes along the way and had to ripped out the lining a few times but at the end of it, I think the bag doesn't look too bad! LOL I want to try making at least one more bag!!!

Monday, September 7, 2009

Trying to fix the lining onto the bag.
Made a big pocket on one side of the lining. I turned the bag inside out to attach the lining. I've also added a zipper for the bag.

Friday, September 4, 2009

Sewed the sides together. It does look better with just one strip of the squares at the bottom of the bag! Imagine the bag with all the square patches.... LOL

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

LOL Yes! I took out three of the square strips from each side and added a plain fabric instead. Thanks for the advice, Gina! But I didn't want to do any more applique! Still lots to do on my Tulips N Anemones applique! Not giving up on that yet!! LOL

Sewed all the strips together. After doing that I find that I don't quite like it! Too many squares!! LOL

I don't know why I am so interested in handmade bags. I prefer to use a handmade bag then a LV or any of those branded ones... LOL Luke will be very happy to hear this!!! They are all unique in their own way.... imagine...it's just like our patchwork quilt...no two quilts in the world are the same!!! That is why I love looking at all the quilting blogs!! So many things to see and admire! And also to be inspired!!!

Japanese Bag

Bought this bag kit from Epal. I have been going through the Japanese craft books and thought maybe I should have a go at making one for myself. Got this because then I do not have to go searching for the fabrics. The kit comes with the handles as well so it's really worth it.

Monday, August 24, 2009

Yes, I listened to the little voice! LOL I used light blue for the border. I made the border the same width as the sashing. This is just to have the log cabin effect. I like the size of the quilt so I will not add any more border strips!

Saturday, August 22, 2009

When I look at this picture, I am glad I did what I did!! I like the outcome!! The quilt top doesn't look so dull anymore. I am not rushing to add the border. Maybe leave it for a day or two and then go through my fabric stash and see if I can come up with something!! I have this little voice that say.....light blue!! I don't know...we'll just have to see!!

Friday, August 21, 2009

Remember the quilt I tried to finish in haste??? I felt happier after I took it apart!! I seriously did not like the finished look! The machine quilting was not nice!! The colors were dull eventhough I added a yellow border!! Today, I found some time to start on it again. I added sashings with yellow background and some blue prints. This somehow brighten up the quilt!! I must remember in the future to avoid situation like this! It was time wasted putting it together the first time! LOL

Thursday, August 20, 2009

My friendship swap bag!! It's really a small bag! Check this out!! Smaller than my pc screen! LOL

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Started on the bag today. I thought it would be difficult but surprisingly it's easy!! I did not follow the instructions exactly as you can see! Instead of sewing 16 strips together for the body of the bag, I used two pieces of printed fabric. I wanted the prints to be seen.
I don't know how to stipple quilt so I ended up with straight lines!! I did try though.!!

Friendship Swap Bag

I have decided to participate in this bag swap. This is my first time so I am very excited!!! I have a few things to put in the bag already!! But I have not started on the bag yet!! I don't know if I should let on about the goodies or even post the bag on my blog!!! What do you think??......

Laptop Bag No.2

I have been rather busy and lazy the last few weeks. Busy playing golf and lazy to do any sewing!! However, I did remove all the stitches from Adrian's quilt top! Now I am left with just the log cabin blocks. I have not decided what to do with it. I won't be able to do anything until Wednesday!
I made this Laptop Bag No.2 for my sister, Jenny. I made it a bit too small so I had to make some adjustments! Check out the printed fabric on the right!! It does make it look more unique....that's what I told her too!. LOL

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

No!! I didn't make my deadline! I machine quilted the quilt and even finished binding it. I gave up after the first aeroplane applique. I didn't like the finished look. I left for KK on Friday and came back yesterday! So I spent most of today ripping the quilt apart!!! I began by taking the binding out....see the left side and the bottom of the quilt. I don't know why but I just feel that I have to rearrange the blocks!! Let's see...........LOL

Adrian's quilt

I found some log cabin blocks from a project I did a few years ago and decided to make a quilt for my godson, Adrian. It's 1239 am the basting is not done yet! This is one of the marathon quilts.......... deadline..... Friday!!!!

Monday, July 20, 2009

Quilted this on the corner of the wall hanging. Don't know if I should draw a more complicated or busier quilting design. I will see later and add in as I go along. It took more time to quilt around the flowers and vines. The corner pattern took less time!!!

This is still on the quilting frame!! I have not been spending time on it. I should be concentrating on it for the next few weeks!! Hoping to finish it before the year is out!!! LOL

Saturday, July 18, 2009

I've finished the quilt top. Added a red sashing and a border. My first thought was using the red fabric for the center square but when I match it with the black squares, it somehow dulls the block!! I actually spent some time going through my fabric stash. I was very happy when I found the center square fabric because if you look at it closely, the background is black!! LOL

Friday, July 17, 2009

Put all the blocks together! I just hope Regina likes the colorful center fabric! I try to keep it plain just the way she likes it and because triangles are also not her cup of tea, I chose this pattern for her quilt top.

Thursday, July 16, 2009

This morning, I went for a free-form machine quilting class. It was a very informative and interesting class. I really enjoyed it. Time just flew by!!! Got some homework too!! I got a long, long way to go!!! LOL
Right...... back to Regina's quilt top!! I've joined all the blocks together. This is a one block pattern quilt so it's very easy and fast to piece together!! It would be more interesting if I could put more color into it!! My friend doesn't like flowers so I am actually taking a risk sewing the center squares!! She hasn't seen the fabric! LOL

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

I chose the flower print for the center of the block. This will brighten up the quilt top. There are too many plain black squares!!

Monday, July 13, 2009

Sewed the printed fabric onto the beige fabric. After that, I ironed and sew them into squares. I don't know but I find the colors rather dull. Might have to do something about it!!

Saturday, July 11, 2009

I had to trim the squares a bit because some of them are not cut properly!! Then I quarter all the squares. After I did all that, I found I had quite a few black squares. We'll have to see how it turn out when I piece them with the the printed beige fabric.

Regina's Quilt

My friend, Regina, gave me this to make a quilt top for her. She also bought some plain printed beige fabric to match. I fancy the squares are too big to use it as it is so I am going to cut them! Regina doesn't like the flower print so cutting the squares is a good idea!! LOL

This is my laptop bag!! Yeah....!!!
